listening to the secret of evermore soundtrack and it's kind of... underwhelming.

apparently it's by jeremy soule, and that explains it. i was expecting something more akin to the classic japanese composers and soule is decidedly western. it definitely sounds more like something you'd hear in fable or elder scrolls than a squaresoft RPG from the 90s.

i've never played secret of evermore but i'm assuming the game is a lot more atmospheric/ambient and the music probably compliments it.

@Awoo I'm a bit of a space romanticist, i mean it's part of my namesake after all xD so i did like just kind of going from planet to planet and chilling. i'd probably be down to just float around in space for the rest of my life if it was possible but, alas, i was born too early and with too many conditions that mean i won't be colonizing anywhere. i'd probably not even make it out of the atmosphere xD

@Awoo I actually liked the game more when it first released. My expectations were met exactly. Just fly around to planets and look at stuff. Would have been nice if there was more variety back then, but it was a good game to just relax to.

Now it's just a little too complicated for my liking. Lots of stuff you have to manage and way more things you can build/do that just sort of clutter things up a bit. I kind of feel that way with Minecraft too... whenever I play it I never touch anything that was made past like 2016 and I spend the entire time hollowing out cobblestone areas and building a massive fortress. Likewise, in NMS when I've gone back to play it, I just focus on flying from planet to planet and looking at stuff.

I appreciate Hello Games' dedication to the game, though. They've done a hell of a lot of work on it. I hope that whatever their next game is like they knock it out of the park.

I don't really believe in New Year's Resolutions but it's close enough to make one and implement it now I guess. I'm going to try my best to refrain from political posting in the future. The most you'll see from me are shitposts. I'm going to pin this to hold myself to it as well!

At the end of the day, if I know anything it's that I know nothing. Posting anything about my politics here is of little value beyond a few likes and boosts.

I'm not going to go into politics and I don't really want that to be my legacy. I want to make games that everyone can truly enjoy, that don't have any agendas, hidden or otherwise. I'd rather not be a highly controversial figure on that front. Essentially it's the equivalent of "I just want to grill." I want to be known more for the stuff I make instead of whatever weird political flavor anyone wants to pin on me, or that I inadvertently pin on myself.

A lot of this stuff also gets me pretty on edge and I misplace a lot of passion where I shouldn't. My mood disorder doesn't help with that either. At my core I'm honestly not a very hateful guy but I can get fired up and sometimes I say things I either don't mean or things that can get misconstrued (especially over the internet). I think the best way to improve for myself is to just refrain. Abstinence is best, or whatever.

I wanna' talk about games and game dev, music, that sort of shit instead. Part of why I've been thinking about this is just thinking back to the old internet before politics was really cared about at all and nobody even mentioned it because the internet was supposed to be an escape from real life, not something that would stress your real life out more. You go to a family reunion and hear your parents talk about political shit and you want to just go back to the net to talk to people about RuneScape and Zelda, you know? Back when the worst thing someone could do online was like, be annoying.

So yeah, anyway, no more politics for me. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year xD

As far as RPG Maker games go, I gotta' admit I feel a little bit behind the times now. I've been working on my game since RPG Maker MV came out, when there were no community made plugins to speak of. The amount of crazy shit people can do with the engine these days is leagues ahead of what my game's going to offer. It's like someone making an SNES RPG meanwhile the Gamecube just came out.

@rasterman it's not anywhere close on the same level lol. i seriously think its existence there is a bug. there hasn't been a comment on it since 2017 and nobody commented on the post mortem i wrote last year.

maybe at some point a lot of people rushed to download it or view it for some reason, maybe some random brazilian youtuber made a video about it. then since it got on the front page it kind of just stuck there because people keep clicking it and viewing it or downloading it. the game has over 5,000 downloads and 100,000 page views and it's SHIT.

why the FUCK is my janky ass, old ass, buggy ass game Grandma's House still on the front page of rpgmaker.net? Nobody is talking about it. Does it just get a lot of downloads or views or something?? I'm genuinely curious... I might ask a mod or admin or something because it definitely does not deserve to be there. Right in between Ara Fell and Lisa, sitting next to Oneshot and adjacent to OFF. More like fuck off... why is Grandma's House here??? It has legitimately been there for at least a year.

@MaleGoddess @Arkana @bronze @Shadowman311 the reason why i said it was debunked was that a decent amount of these kids weren't actually missing anymore. there was one girl who hadn't been missing for like 3 years or something and she had just ran away from home for a couple days. something along those lines.

then, a lot of the similar products did actually have differences but used the same pictures, the differences were in like the supports like if you could connect them to the wall or not, something along those lines. they're just pretentious as fuck so the drastic price differences reflected that.

right around the time all this shit happened, wayfair was donating lots of furniture (such as beds) to the places where they hold children who had crossed the border illegally, in case they were being trafficked. a lot of leftists were furious that they supported those centers and employees did walkouts and stuff. i've seen some people theorize that this controversy was sparked by leftists trying to get revenge, more or less.

while some of these names are a bit exotic, honestly you can probably search up any single name with "missing" at the end of it and find someone who was missing by that name. the people doing this didn't really dive too deep and find that a good chunk of the "missing children" were in fact no longer missing, though.

i also found out that naming furniture after real names is a pretty common practice in the industry. something about giving names to furniture makes potential buyers feel more endeared towards them and thus more likely to buy them. it's not just wayfair that names their furniture like this. i mean fuck, ikea has plenty of those.

@Mr_NutterButter I'm spoiled because pso2's is extremely cheap and you can get it with in game currency. You can buy it just by doing your alliance quests every week (which doesn't take long at all).

well we won a game and i got the most points so maybe i don't suck as much as i think i do.

it's alright, i guess. monetization is horrific except for the battle pass, which is $10 for a 3 month season. that's not bad if you're playing enough to actually unlock everything on the battle pass.

dialogue is pretty cringeworthy. gameplay is alright, nothing to write home about but it's decent. it's something i can probably play with my friends because they'll get super into it.
