When people say that God gives them strength, they miss the point. God does not give you strength. God GAVE you strength. You have the power now and always have.

@LukeAlmighty the only downside to my job letting me work on my game or watch youtube or whatever else i feel like is that when shit hits the fan, i'm the guy that has to deal with it xD

@MK2boogaloo @sathariel @Mek101 @Mitsu there's a super long version of this story but basically, it was a mix of not feeling good about it at all and not agreeing with some of the teachings or the way the church handled things. not just of mormonism but kind of just religion (particularly abrahamic religions) in general.

later on, i started putting together more pieces and finding out more and am still doing that to this day. it went from "i have a bad feeling about this, and even though i prayed about it that feeling still won't leave" to "okay, now i know why i had those feelings and why it's good i listened to the answers i received, not from people who had a vested interest in keeping me in a religion, but from someone who actually cares about me."

i know, >reddit, but the r/exmormon sub has some really great stories and info in it amidst all of the people complaining about the culture of the church goers moreso than the actual teachings or anything like that.

@Mek101 @Mitsu @sathariel The big difference between most Christian sects and Mormonism is that Mormons view the Godhead/Holy Trinity (Father, Son, Holy Ghost) as separate beings, whereas other Christians view Them all as being one in the same. Mormons think They have the same goal, but are individuals.

Anyway, because of this, Mormons believe that Jesus created Earth and is the God of the Old Testament. However, even with the typical Christian way of thinking, Jesus always existed, He just didn't have a body until He was born.

For extended reading, Mormons believe that, like most Christians, Jesus is the example that should be followed. This includes eventually creating their own world just as Jesus did with the Earth. If a Mormon does all of the ceremonies they are supposed to (Baptism, Endowments, Marriage) and is a good person throughout their life (and the first part of the afterlife before the Final Judgement occurs), then they are able to go to the highest tier of Heaven where they will live with God and be able to do things such as creating their own world. In this way, they still have a purpose after death.

I was a Mormon for nearly 19 years of my life so if you have any other questions feel free to ask.

Frodo looked up and saw with surprise that faint stars were appearing overhead amid the strands of hurrying cloud and fog.
