@riserise this is why I don't understand Xbox naming conventions. Normies can't even tell the difference between a 3 and a 4, you expect them to understand Xbox One S, Series S, One X, and Series X? Like fuck man, that's why the Wii U sold like shit.

I have $0 in my account rn until Friday because one of my paychecks got delayed :meru_sweat:

@Tamamo @ChristiJunior @Immahnoob @RehnSturm256 there is an alternate universe where HZD looks like a pixar movie and runs on the switch, and i wish i was a part of that universe.

@neo @alyx @galena @RehnSturm256 @weanoob also kinda worth noting that when the switch came out, there was nothing quite like it. they have still struck an amazing balance between battery life, performance, heat, price, and portability. steam deck is really the only thing that truly holds a candle to it and that only released within the last year.

it's stupid to think it would ever be able to run games that look as good as ones on the ps4, and that wasn't ever the goal. it's only a slightly faster wii u all shoved into a smaller version of the gamepad.

nintendo does well developing for their own console because they know its limitations and they make the right art decisions for the games so that they run well and still look good. that's what they've done forever. you won't ever look back on the aforementioned games and think they look horrible or don't play very well. meanwhile, games like bayonetta 3 and pokemon scarlet/violet were DOA because the devs just don't have their priorities in order.

@neo @alyx @galena @RehnSturm256 @weanoob depends on what you classify as "high power." the nes, snes, and n64 were all relatively high power for their time. gamecube was more powerful than the ps2 was. for what it's worth, the wii u was also the most powerful console for a small amount of time but that's mainly because it came in between two generations.

i guess the limiting factor with the gamecube and n64 were just the storage space for games.

but yeah, it's quite staggering to see the difference between a game developed by nintendo themselves VS a game made by a third party, even if it is a switch exclusive. why the fuck does bayonetta 3 look worse than 2 does? how do the pokemon games just keep getting worse? then you look at splatoon 3, smash ultimate, animal crossing, metroid dread, or breath of the wild (which was a LAUNCH TITLE) and it just doesn't make sense. the only explanation is that the third party devs are just getting lazy and don't want to optimize for the switch anymore. it's clear that developers just want nintendo to make a more powerful iteration of the switch, because it is a handheld console that came out in 2017.

@riserise the convo was more related to space marine 2. but apparently henry cavill is the executive producer of the amazon show, and he left witcher because they wanted to do weird shit with it, so that at least gives me some hope. but at the same time, it's fucking amazon who put out rings of power.

@charliebrownau yeah but i barely use it tbh, windows does what i need it to and does it more smoothly.

i love watching melee, but fuckin hell it sucks to play. project m is just better in every way. melee feels really damn clunky. timing windows for everything are just scuffed, there is no reverse aerial rush, and you can't use the c-stick while running. i wanna play online but man it's brutal. forever waiting for project+ rollback... maybe one day.

@matana awwww sheeeeeit

thedy probably won't give af as long as it doesn't seep into the game itself, but all i can see is the beginning of social politics pandering.
