Coworker was talking about how he's been desensitized because of anime. Trying to sound cool because of it. He's like "yeah I've watched corpse party and higurashi, I'm totally desensitized now."

I told him there are still anime/manga out there that he'd be very uncomfortable watching/reading. Wasn't about to tell him though lol. I'm not gonna be the one to introduce him to anything beyond incredible gore.

Actually, I should recommend some Junji Ito. Won't shock him, but Ito doesn't usually just rely on gore itself but more body-horror stuff.

TIL that in the 1630s there was a song only played in the Sistine Chapel. The Vatican kept the composition of "Miserere Mei, Deus" secret for 140 years until 14-year-old Mozart listened to it 2 times, transcribed it from memory, and produced one of the earliest records of musical piracy.

Do you have a large game backlog? Try this neat trick!

You'll first need a list of all the games in your backlog that you are even mildly interested in playing.

Next, assign a value from 1-10 based on how much you'd like to play them.

Next, you'll need to find the Metacritic score and the average playtime of the game, which you can find on the website "HowLong ToBeat.com."

Divide the Metacritic score by the length of the game. This will give you a "quality per hour" value.

Then, you'll take the "quality per hour" value and multiply it by how much you would like to play it.

You'll end up with a list of games sorted by value for your time spent on them. For the most part, the shorter games will be at the top, and it'll help you really knock a lot of games off of your backlog.

This doesn't have to be something you follow in order 100%, but it can be nice to give you more information when deciding what to play next!

For an example, here's my current spreadsheet! I recently played Touhou Scarlet Curiosity, though I haven't beaten the post-game yet so it's still on there. I'm currently playing through Touhou Luna Nights. Kingdom Hearts isn't on this list because I'm waiting for a mod to get Steam compatibility. Looking at this list, I'll probably play "A Bird Story" and "Finding Paradise" next, since they are in the same series and are pretty short. I'm thinking about playing Ni No Kuni too, because even though it is the longest game on this list I still have ranked it as a 10 on how much I'd like to play it.

had a cute and funny idea for a superhero character.

jeriko; loli who yells "UOOOHHH" and is able to bring grown men to their knees, uncontrollably sobbing.

feel free to use the idea if you want because i won't i just thought it was funny lol.

Wisdoms from programming:
You are not smart enough to make a new mistake. Every mistake you made was made hundreds of times before and will be repeated to infinity.

If I understand the CrowdStrike issue correctly, it's that a bad build or some sort of corruption resulted in a driver being released that had a bunch of null bytes in it, correct?

Well, I think a very similar thing just happened on my game. I'm not quite sure what I did, but I moved a plugin around so I'm assuming that was it, but it generated a bunch of null bytes in the global save file. It resulted in the game not being able to open up the save menu and in some cases it would crash before you could even move the cursor around the title screen.

Kind of strange that these things happened right after one another. Obviously for my game it's not nearly as big of an issue, but it seems to be the same exact thing or a similar thing that happened that fucked everything up.

gonna go on a walk at dawn. seems like a good time since the sun is starting to come up, it's relatively cool outside, and it's right before my usual bed time. might do it more if it ends up working out. idk why i didn't think of doing this before... i just didn't want to walk in the heat or in the middle of the night.
