re: Linux Retro gaming via Wine

@coolboymew When you said that VB3 programs should be reversed engineered perfectly you were probably confusing it with .NET programs. AFAIK VB3 programs compile to native code.

You are probably thinking about VB.NET (now confusingly known as Visual Basic) which is a completely different programming language and runs on the .NET VM which makes it easy to reverse engineer. The actual Visual Basic programming language has been discontinued for years.

@coolboymew If it is actually set in a certain period of the Zelda timeline, does that mean that this game is cannon?

@caskd @djsumdog @matrix That's where bookmarks come in so you can have them written down much like a phone book.

@caskd @djsumdog @matrix I'll go beyond that. Domains themselves are a joke. If people can memorize phone numbers, then they can recognize IP addresses.

@coolboymew @guizzy @roka If that were the case, Nintendo would still own Banjo, Conker, and Perfect Dark.

@coolboymew Tomato from the Mother 3 translation project was working on a Japanese fan translation of the first game. I don't know if he plans to finish it though. Apparently, the Japanese "alphabet" (I don't know if it is called that) contains too many characters for the engine to support without major tweaking to the code.

I don't know how many Japanese gamers are aware of the series though. The only reference of the series that the Japanese may have seen was one of the alternate costumes for ROB in Smash, but they probably didn't understand the reference.

@coolboymew I always wondered if StarTropics could ever get somewhat of a cult following in Japan much like how Mother/Earthbound got one in the west. It would probably get Nintendo to give that dead franchise more attention.

>Spend 10 years coding before you bother trying to make a game?
You should have some basic knowledge of the programming language you are using (in Unity's case, it's C#) before jumping in to game development. I recommend to start out with some text-based games. They can be written in virtually any language and will give you the basics of whatever language you are working with.

>you mongs are the ones that got super hyped for a game that was in early development and then harassed the developer of it for 7 years straight. :renge_shrug:
He gets offended by even the most constructive criticism and he focuses more on the drama surrounding his game rather the developing the game itself. He probably could've had the game done by now if he actually recognize his flaws and try to fix them instead of making a huge deal about it.

There is going the be a lot of drama when developing your game. You shouldn't let that distract you from working on it. That's basically the moral of the story with YandereDev.

What if...
The democrats are only now condoning the riots, not because of poll numbers, but because the slaves are getting uppity and normalizing left-wing gun ownership....

@coolboymew Don't forget about spending money on a new Switch since that game apparently fucks up the console's file system.

@CreamSeparatist@neckbeard.xyz @georgia @sjw@neckbeard.xyz Look at how that mentality worked for YandereDev.

@sjw@neckbeard.xyz It's still fun to bring up to vegetarians and vegans when they compare meat-eaters to Nazis though.
