@xianc78 @djsumdog @merchantHelios @berkberkman @coolboymew @ooignignoktoo that's not what the meme is lol, you buy a high end pc but then only play Minecraft because that's what you really like to play above all else. For me it used to be only playing games on dolphin lmao. Minecraft could run on library computers from 2012, but it doesn't exactly have great scaling because Java sucks. Bedrock is coded in I believe c++ and is way more performant, it just sucks because it is way more locked down. Thankfully mods help out the performance and visuals on Java a lot.

Also Unity doesn't actually have that many issues tbh, as long as the dev knows what they are doing the games run pretty well. Unreal has some pretty deep-seated issues with the engine itself that you can actually work around, but it takes a lot of effort.

I think if someone is making a 2D game they should probably just stick to Godot though. Even for simplistic 3D games. If you're trying to do anything seriously crazy though, pretty much your only two options are Unreal and Unity and Unreal is kind of easier at this point, imo.

2025 had some kind of shitty things happen, but for the most part I feel like it was a pretty good year. Played a lot of good games, started learning Japanese, and started going to the gym pretty consistently! I also got to go to some awesome concerts in Babymetal and Distant Worlds, got some michelin ramen straight from Japan, and I've had a pretty good time playing the Switch 2.

And how could I forget... I FINALLY released my game I've been working on for nearly a decade, God's Disdain! It hasn't quite hit the amount of people I would have liked to play it, but there have been so many good games this year I honestly don't blame anyone for not playing it. I'm honestly just glad I got it released, it was a huge undertaking and I'm really proud of it.

I feel like 2025 was part 1 of this upcoming year. Some things might get a little worse, but I think I'll be improving myself even more and hopefully having more cool experiences. I'm hoping I'll even move to a different career and actually really start working towards something better for myself.

30 is looking to be good in 2026. I'm excited. I hope you guys are too! Let's make it a good year.

@Tony idk I've been here since Jan 2021 and it hasn't changed that much imo.

@Mr_NutterButter @LukeAlmighty now, i don't want to be a doomer or anything, but anything external can always change. if you can ride that motivation then that's great, anything to get you going you know? but ultimately you have to want to do it for yourself and for your health.

@Mr_NutterButter @LukeAlmighty I know I'm not who you asked but I can give some advice too.

if you're trying to lose weight, the easiest first thing to do is just stop drinking soda. I'm a relatively skinny dude and not drinking soda alone cut out like 5-10 lbs pretty quickly.

Then you want to just make sure you're at a calorie deficit. It doesn't matter what you do at the gym or what you eat as long as you are burning more than you are consuming. The higher deficit you run, the more you'll lose, naturally. Cardio and calisthenics usually burns the most. Eating high protein and low calorie foods will make sure you don't feel hungry, but you do still want to make sure your body can function because you can't work out if you're dead. Smaller meals throughout the day instead of like, one big meal will be better.

Of course, if you're not actually going to the gym or going on walks/runs consistently then none of this will matter. So it might be good to get into the rhythm of that first and just ease yourself into it. Just start doing it and don't stop, even if it is inconvenient or you really don't want to do it one day. You gotta just force yourself and focus.

If you have anyone that you can work out with, that's also a huge help. It's way easier to do it with someone because you get the social aspect in there and you can both motivate each other and hold each other accountable.
