@mangeurdenuage guys have longer eyelashes because they need them more. They aren't just beauty, they're handy too.

@matana that would be fun. I tried to get it working with VR Chat but I couldn't get it calibrated right, my body was just folding in on itself.

@BlinkRape unreal is pretty unoptimized by default as well. you can make optimized games in them obviously, but there have been problems in the engine that just have never been fixed like shader stuttering.

source engine seems pretty well optimized, but unfortunately you can't really do as much with it unless you just mod the engine like the devs of Titanfall/Apex did.

Appearing on Fox News Wednesday, Anthony Fauci appeared to admit that the Biden administration’s efforts to reinstate mask mandates on planes and trains is about preserving “authority” (read power) over public health decisions, not about keeping people safe.

@matana you can do that in the US at a certain point too. I think in Utah when you turn 14 you can just not go to school if you don't want to.

@alyx it seems like these are all games that will routinely go on huge sale on steam anyway.

@LukeAlmighty nothing in particular, I've liked your posts about it so far

uke update: putting new strings on it definitely sounds a whole lot better. one of those things where you don't realize how shitty what you're using is until you get a new version of it. god my ears are in heaven right now.

when i took off the old strings there were divots in them where i had pressed down, just chunks of the string either malformed or carved away. so i bought some sturdier ones, fluorocarbon instead of nylgut. apparently fluorocarbon is used for fishing line, so it's a bit sturdier and will hopefully hold up more. i've heard that it's what most performing musicians use on their ukes whereas recording ukes tend to have softer strings like black nylon.

can't plug it in to try because it's night time now, but fingers crossed that it's actually the solution to the horrible sound i've been getting. i'm going to try throwing in fresh batteries instead of ones that have been sitting around for a year too just to see how that goes. but yeah, worst case i buy a new uke that has a better pickup. apparently there is a pickup that doesn't need batteries at all and just charges with a capacitor while plugged in, so that's probably what i'd be on the hunt for.

was getting bad buzzing on my strings today, gonna' try swapping them out to see if that fixes the distortion problem on the amp too.

if not, i'm buying a new ukulele. i know for a fact it's the uke at this point, not the speaker or the mic, so it's probably the pickup in the uke. i could TRY to compress it, but i have no idea if that would work and, if the strings don't work, it would sound like ass playing without amplification anyway.

@Fiddle i'd rather have half-black kids that have white features anyway than no kids at all and have to suffer through pride month but 24/7

@matana with animal crossing, when it updated once it required me to log in to my nintendo account to play it at all, so i'd be a little wary of that. i had a physical cartridge and it still just said NOPE, sorry, can't play unless you log in!

so i would be wary of that, for sure. i don't know if there are any workarounds or not.
