@hideki when I watch streams, it's usually of wacky/weird games from streamers that I know will make it even wackier. That's why I watch vinesauce and jerma, but if they're playing something serious or an rpg or something I skip out on it and just watch highlights or something.

It's always background too, while I'm playing PSO or whatever.

@EtichettaNera idk, I still have a pretty good time going out and hanging with people. Although, a lot of that was killed by covid shit and is still working on coming back in any way like it used to be :(

@xianc78 yeah, my family never really had a pc beyond something for office use, I didn't get any pc really "capable" of rendering anything 3d until 2015. My dad was always a console gamer too so that was prioritized.

When I was like 10 or so, I had limited internet access to post walkthroughs I made for video games on IGN lol, and I started to look into making games myself. Bounced around between some really old rudimentary stuff including flash and game maker, but eventually found a cracked version of RPG Maker XP on this freewebs site and the rest is history. I spent a LOT of time dicking around with making stupid little games. Didn't make anything legitimate until senior year of high school though. I always bounced from ambitious project to ambitious project when I got a bit older but since that one was for a 30 day competition I actually finished it xD

@alyx @matrix for just straight music rips people upload, I can see it either being FLAC or 320kbps mp3. If they encode the video correctly, at least. They could toss a FLAC in a video and then only render out 128kbps. I've accidentally not rendered videos at 60fps before lol so that can always happen too. That's what I suspect most source files would be though, whether they are ripping from a CD or downloading from something like Amazon music.

@LukeAlmighty I also don't drink a lot and never drank until I turned 21, so it's not tolerance I've gained over time or anything, I've just always been like this.

@alyx @matrix well this is from 2020. Looks like you can use this ytdl command to see it for any given video. The highest audio quality for this 1080p video is 160kbps and you can see here the highest it actually gets is 145kbps.

Opus is still good and YouTube's compression is still pretty good, but there isn't a way you would ever be able to tell what the original audio was like without asking the uploaded because it's already been compressed, the original audio doesn't exist on YouTube's end.

But that's what I was saying, if it still sounds good then it shouldn't matter too much what the original source was, you know?

YouTube has recommendations for audio bitrates too. It definitely helps to upload with a higher bitrate on your video and audio so the compression has more info to work with. It'll always end up as a sub-160 opus though at best. So if the audio quality REALLY matters, downloading off YouTube isn't the best idea, it's better to torrent FLACs or something. But if it doesn't matter as much, or you can't hear a difference, I'm just wondering why you want to know the original quality of the audio in the first place.

@LukeAlmighty I have friends that get drunk or can't drive after one shot but I feel practically nothing if I take several gulps of whiskey lol. Just kind of funny.

I'm not even done with God's Disdain and I already have the entire story and map/puzzle drafts done for my next game (horror), and I catch myself thinking about ideas for the game after that (space opera). Shit like this is why I was never able to finish a game in the past, and why I'll probably never move away from RPG Maker as a developer, I have too many ideas and too little time. I'll be lucky if I finish all of them by the time I'm 45.

@LukeAlmighty I've never been drunk, even after 3 shots of vodka the most I've felt is just a little bit floaty. The most I ever felt was drinking glögg for Christmas a couple years ago, lot of alcohol mixed together. I just felt really light. But my perception or thought processes don't change or anything. Kinda weird.
