ksi - thick of it
so i've been hearing that KSI's song "thick of it" is like the WORST fucking song in the world or something? the video has 2.5 MILLION dislikes.
it's... not bad at all. there are plenty of worse youtuber songs out there. fuck, there are worse songs that tons of people seem to really enjoy. at least you can understand the lyrics lmao. i'd rather listen to this than anything from travis scott or macklemore. or jelly roll or whatever the fuck his name is.
it's not the next dark side of the moon or anything but come on... you're really going to put this in the same league as "it's everyday bro" with the whole "england is my city" and "selling merch like a god church" shit?
ksi is a fucking retard but the song is not that bad lol.

@LukeAlmighty and then you have the absolute nut jobs claiming samus is trans.
@zucchini @Humpleupagus @Mr_NutterButter The fidelity they are constantly chasing arguably doesn't even look that good. I unironically think that the Metroid Prime remaster that came out a little while ago looks leagues better than most AAA stuff these days.
Have you played Ultrakill? I haven't played the full game but the demo was really fun. That game is about 4 years old now I think.
Metal Hellsinger was also really fun, but I guess it's a bit more niche.
DOOM Eternal I know a lot of people liked, but I actually put it down because I just was not having any fun with it.
I really just want another Blacklight game... it'll never happen because I guess Disney owns the IP and it's basically in a black hole over there. Something *like* it would be awesome, though. That wallhack stuff was super unique.
@tomie so far up their own asses that they're bored and they want to get up someone else's
@tomie it's all VERY needlessly complicated, they're just way too far up their own asses tbh
@ZB59@aethy.com @Vermelhatan nah shadow is too stoic. he has one goal and one goal only and that's to avenge maria.
@dogslurp @Humpleupagus when the seas send their shrimp, they aren't sending their best.
@ZB59@aethy.com @picandor wdym by "pedophilia flags" having the same colors as the "map flag" i thought those were the same thing
I've said it before and I'll say it again: the layoffs and studio closures will continue until the games improve. There's no other way around it. The gaming industry is not some sort of infinite money glitch. Yeah, sometimes it is going to suck to be the guy at the bottom that gets totally screwed over by higher-ups thinking they know best. It's happened to me in at three jobs at this point and I'm not even 30. There is always more work somewhere else and it might suck if you're not doing the thing that you want to be doing, but that's literally just the way it is.
For the sake of the gaming industry's health, I also hope that these teams and budgets get massively trimmed down so that games can be more focused. I know making games is harder now, but it's also pretty damn easy with the tools we have available. Indie teams can make incredible things with what are essentially skeleton crews. Lethal Company sold more than Call of Duty did. I'm sure that whenever Hollow Knight Silksong comes out, it'll outsell whatever AAA games are currently being pushed on the market. Back in the days of the 6th generation and before that, you had teams of like 15 people making these amazing games that have aged relatively well and are still beloved by so many people. Those games would take like, 3 years to make tops. They had to do all of that from absolute scratch, and you're telling me you can't make a good game with a team of 200+ people over the course of 6 years with the tools we have now? No way. It's gotta' just be so much bloat.
Yeah, this is coming from someone who spent 9 years making a single game. I'm a solo dev doing it as a hobby, it is 100% not the same thing lol.
@tomie @Mr_NutterButter depression doesn't necessarily mean sadness or wanting to kill yourself or something. it can be just general exhaustion or apathy too.
i don't have bipolar but i have cyclothymia, which is in the same "family" of mood disorders. there are definitely swings of absolute extreme motivation as well as not wanting to do anything at all.
the key to helping me get over the latter was to just do something on whatever i'm working on. anything, it doesn't matter, for at least 30 minutes. every day. often times it'll be longer than that and that motivation will spark again.
the only reason my game is being released next year is because i've been following this sort of work ethic since march of 2023 (shoutouts to @xianc78 for showing me this sakurai video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IN-Uh2VfL8c) otherwise it'd probably still be out a ways. it might seem like you're going nowhere sometimes if all the energy you have is that 30 minutes, but it definitely helps.
@Leims she's super cute!
