@PurpCat @kroner You literally have the LGBT community recommending FOSS even more now because they are afraid that Musk and Zuckerberg are going to dox their locations and drone strike them.

@bajax @binkle I assume it has something to do with BasedCon, some convention he was invited to which was openly anti-woke.

“The most dangerous institutions today are universities because they teach ideas that will lead to the destruction of the United States.”

Ayn Rand warned the US in this prophetic interview in the 1960’s.

The Libertarian Party is a democracy, which is why it's not a consistently libertarian party

Democracy and libertarianism are incompatible

@PurpCat I just love how these anti-crypto people will use the thing for fedi welfare (aka the Mutual Aid hashtags).

Now that the pendulum is clearly swinging toward the right, what are these "populist politicians" and "anti-establishment radicals" actually accomplishing? Are we seeing a real revolution, or just more of the same?

@kroner I know that a lot of projects have been pozzed before DOGE, but I feel like DOGE is making it much worse.

I feel like the cutting of DEI and wokeness, especially from Big Tech is just going to bring more of that crap to FOSS spaces and make the wokeness problems there much worse.

You are already seeing it now as even more people are ditching Twitter in favor of Mastodon and BlueSky. You also have European leftists boycotting all American companies out of fear that they may be funding trans genocide, so expect more of them embracing FOSS and ruining even more projects and services.

Despite all the bloated features that C++ has added over the years to the point that it is difficult to fully master, why has nobody bothered to make a string split method?

@sendpaws Ardour's binaries aren't exempt from any FOSS license. You just have to pay to download them if you choose to get them from their website.

Hot take: I think more FOSS projects should go the Ardour business model and charge people for binaries. You'd be surprised to see how many people don't know how to compile from source or that they could legally get a binary for free from a mirror (provided that there is one).

You may think that this sounds scummy, but who cares? I think it's better than just simply relying on donations. This guarantees that at least some people will pay for the software because until someone redistributes it, the only way to get the latest release is to pay for the binary.
